Twinkle Toes
North Pole (Russia), 2017
There was a surprising gentleness within her eyes that I sought to capture with my lens. Her paws splayed across the snow and the hair on her snout was damp from snuffling through the frozen sea ice in search of seals. Her dark eyes reflected the tired wisdom that only a life spent in the vast Arctic could sow. She knew long, dark winters, eternal summers, and blizzards of swirling white.
