Art possesses a unique ability to change the way we see the world. It can awaken us to new perspectives, ideas, and values, sparking conversations that transcend language and cultural barriers. This past month I had the unique honor of having my photographs on display at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
This is not only significant to me personally as an artist, but a profound moment for the global art community. Having my work featured in a space where world leaders, policymakers and changemakers gather to decide the future of our planet, underscores the transformative power of art in addressing the urgent challenges we face today. Being part of this forum means having the opportunity to contribute to conversations that can lead to real-world impact.
My session, "Art Can Change the World," emphasized this notion: art changes people, and people change the world. The opportunity to present my work in this setting allowed me to bring visibility to critical issues such as biodiversity and the voices of Indigenous communities—the true stewards of our planet.
Indigenous peoples protect and manage 80% of the world’s remaining biodiversity. Their knowledge, traditions, and deep connection to the land are invaluable in the fight against environmental degradation.
Through my photography, I aim to elevate their voices, celebrating their resilience and the wisdom they offer in preserving our natural world.
Bringing these stories to the forum was a powerful reminder of the urgent need to integrate Indigenous perspectives into global decision-making processes.
Art has the power to inspire action and foster empathy in ways that statistics and policy papers cannot. Art can make the invisible visible—whether it’s the beauty of an untouched landscape or the struggle of a marginalized community fighting to protect it. In spaces where solutions are debated and policies are shaped, art serves as a catalyst for meaningful dialogue and lasting change.

Artists play a crucial role in shaping a brighter, more inclusive future just as much as any world leader can. Through our work, we can advocate for the planet, amplify unheard voices, and inspire global audiences to rethink their relationship with nature.
I am deeply grateful for this opportunity and more determined than ever to continue using my art as a force for good.
